Checking out the new “Discover” feature. I’d really appreciate a “Not interested” option in the menu along with the already there “Add to watchlist”. Anything I’ve marked “played” or “not interested” should no longer show up in Discover.
Currently using Mac desktop client. Thanks for your time.
I like the Chromecast for Google TV/Android TV approach of thumbs up or thumbs down. That may collide a bit with the stars based ratings but there must be some way to give a “yay” or “nay” vote to train recommendations.
Unfortunately they’re not even removing items I’ve labeled watched. If there is any curation it’s extremely basic.
This Discover feature is a GREAT start! I love the idea and implementation… so far.
There definitely needs to be:
Ability to filter out specific titles and genres. For example, I don’t like horror films, so I don’t want to see anything horror.
Recommendation algorithm.
Right now Discover just shows me a bunch of everything from those channels, I’m not sure what criteria it uses, maybe popularity, but because of that, it’s showing me a lot of stuff I have zero interest in. This makes Discover more of a random mess than a helpful feature.
Perhaps you can use what’s in my library and viewing history to act as a filter, add a taste profile, or connect to Trakt/IMDb, if available.
I also think the Discover feature appears to have potential value. The main issue I see is that if you can’t customize it, then it becomes a big blob of data on the page that you have to spend time sifting through to get to the information you want.
As of now, once I add the services/channels to the list, it would be great to be able to:
Manually re-order services/channels by preference.
Have the ability to select categories of what to show (like favorites within each one)
Ability to filter out what not to show by category
Filter out what we have watched
Have a trending recommendation based on a category/like filter.
Have the ability to select the type of filter to display (new/trending/etc.)
