Need help setting up Plex Server correctly

i have been using plex server on my Acer Aspire V-Nitro VN7-791G Black Edition gaming laptop Specs : Core i7-4720HQ, 16GB RAM, 2TB + 128GB SSD, NVidia GeForce GTX 960M 4GB

this was connected to external 3TB and 4TB USB3 drives and worked well for the most part.

i have now managed to get myself a seagate 4-bay pro nas with 4x 4TB drives. these have all been setup in Raid 5.

Should I keep the plex server on the gaming laptop and setup the media directories on the NAS via the LAN or USB3?

Is your laptop connected via ethernet? I wouldn’t recommend using WiFi to host PMS.

Using LAN or USB depends on your needs. If your laptop is the only device that will access it, USB will be much faster. If you ever need to access it while your laptop is off, it will have to be LAN.
