NetCologne Internet TV & Plex Live TV

Hello everybody,

I am still relatively new to this topic and have a few questions, because I would like to enjoy the function Live TV via Plex and to record programs on my NAS.

I have the following setting:

  • Router FritzBox 7590
  • Internet access NetCologne (100 Mbit download and 40 Mbit upload)
  • NetCologne NetTV (ie via the internet) incl. NetTV-Box HD Recorder from NetCologne
  • NAS Synology DS916 +
  • Plex Pass

What do I have to do to enjoy live TV with Plex in the future? With my previous configuration, I can only enjoy live on the NetCologne NetTV box and records are made only on this box and can not be accessed and viewed in the home network. Therefore, I would rather use Live TV with Plex.

But I read here that you need a digital antenna (why I use and pay Internet TV NetCologne) and a digital tuner (for example, the HDHomeRun EXPAND).

I would be very happy if someone could enlighten me and suggest a concrete solution. Because I find it very unsatisfactory that one can use the proprietary systems e.g. NetCologne is “trapped” in their world and despite state-of-the-art technology, I can not watch recorded programs on any device in the home network or even on the go. I want to change that. Thank you very much for the help!

Best regards,
Werner
