NETFLIX via PlexMediaServer's VPN

The Plex Media Server is one of the greatest thing I use on my mac, but NETFLIX chanel is not working (as I read).

And more over, I am not able to add any channel in the last 1.2.25 Plex/Web (known issue, if no channel already exist).

Anyway, I can easily get connected to NETFLIX, with an US apple ID, USA location in the ATV configuration and a subscription at www.unblock-us.com

(as I live in a unavailable NETFLIX country).

Why bother writing this here ? No need for PlexServer to to the above.

Well, I have a wish :
As I will continue to subscribe to a VPN service, I found sad to have to subscribe to unblock-us in addition.
In deed, VPN to a US server is good enough to be considered as US internet user.

I wish that my ATV could make all requests to my mac. This mac will use the VPN to get "outside". In short : let the mac be the router for ATV.
Do not know if it is possible, knowing that the mac will not have two ethernet connections.

I actually have no idea what youre trying to accomplish.

You want to use VPN and unblock-us.com ?

only use vpn and not use unblock-us.com ?

I guess you could set up a VPN connection on yout mac and share it via wifi/ethernet but I would not call this an optimal solution :P

You should try a DNS service instead of VPN.

This gives you the possibility to enter the DNS service in your router and all of your connected devices (Mac, PC, ATV, PS3/4 and more) will benefice from it.

I'm using UnoTelly that is working quite well. http://bit.ly/HUiCa1

just use a different DNS (which does the same thing a unblock us, but free), use this DNS in settings: ip_dnsmaster and use the netflix app on your apple-tv, not the netflix-channel.

Thanks to you all,

What I want is to get rid of the "unblock-me solution" as it is not free, and I just see it in addition on my bill  (Netflix, and VPN that I need for other purpose)

So yes, I look for a solution to use VPN, not unblock-me (You had it right on your last question)

Yes of course, that is the best way.

I just did not know we could find this on the web.

Well, there is some, but not very reliable see http://www.netflixfixer.com/2014/02/american-netflix-dns-codes-roundup-pt2.html

That is what I do, with unblock-me.

So I first said to myself "Sunriser is not helping me at all".

But I was wrong.

UnoTelly looks the same as unblock-me, and for the same price we have VPN !!!

WELL that is a very good way . Thanks a lot.  :)

Let us hope that NETFLIX and others will not find a way of denying us with this "DNS solution". I have read that they are working on it ...

Thanks for this topic, I've been looking for some solution to stream and do it on multiple devices. So far I've found one place called https://ironsocket.com that offers a DNS proxy and some other features like Socks/openvpn proxies. It's still cheap too. The pricing page on unotelly was very confusing for me too

I used to rely on Netflixfixer, but I realized the free solutions usually don't last very long and I was getting cut off sometimes in mid stream lol

I also use Unotelly for my out of country Netflix. I edited the config file so that PlexConnect gives out the Unotelly IP instead of the Google DNS IP. Now, when I run Netflix with PlexConnect on, I get an error "Please try again. ATV-ui510:[list name]" When I change the DNS on the AppleTV back to Unotelly, it works just fine.

Anyone else have this issue?
