Hi guys,
I am working on a couple of Plex maintenance tools including several third party agents. Work progresses slowly, but I am able to allow the user to upload individually crafted Cover images for certain criteria. One will be…
- Movie is part of a collection like “The Criterion Collection”. The user will be able to craft the original CC cover and add a spine number to it. This gets uploaded as new poster for a movie in a chosen library if the user wants. This works already flawlessly.
- Awards and Nominations: There will be the possibility to add a custom banner for a movie that won certain awards (add a small graphical depiction to the Cover with the number of Oscars won or add a banner saying “Nominated for 6 Academy Awards in 2017” (to just give rough examples of what will possible. You will see the posters of all movies that won or were nominated for an Oscar and you can pick one or many or all of them to create these new posters and automatically upload them.
Right now, there’s no way of deleting such a poster from the Plex Server - and no API way, for sure. I can identify self-uploaded and chosen posters and would love to have a way for the user to get rid of these in case the user dislikes them somehow.
Of course, the user can choose another poster to be shown, but if a user experiments with different poster types, he or she could be wanting to remove them from their own PMS again.
There were a number of feature requests and questions about this over the years, but as we all know… this is a dev corner here and feature requests for API are nothing that the majority of users will support.
That’s why I am asking here… if a Plex dev want to have a look… I can easily make a preview available.
Please add such an API call. Thank you in advance…
