I dont know where to exactly post this, but i will give this a shot.
There are a few features that i would love to see coming to Plex. I have been using the service now a couple of years and i love it. My friends and family loves it as well.
Here are some of the features i would like to see...
- Send a message to one, multiple or all of my friends that i share plex with. For example, if im doing something on the computer and the plex server will not be on, a message will come up for my friends and they know whats going on.
- If i would like to share ONE video with someone that i dont have on my friends list and dont want them to be on there. Like dropbox, you send a link to a file and there is a expiration date on it. So if plex could do that, that would be brilliant. Not for them to download, but stream the media straight from their browser.
- Edit the friends list on the plex app for phone, on the go. Like adding/edit/delete people from my server, instead of going to the web app on the computer or on the phone.
And final...
- Have different users on the app as well. If my nephew or nieces uses my ipad or phone, they can have their own list of what they can watch. With parental control of course, so they cant see the movies or tv shows that not suitable for them.

This is being worked upon. Android already has it so I expect ios should get it soon.
I have been a Plex user since its early years. I have amassed a massive media library. I wanna say thank you so much for your great work on this project. I love it.
*One feature that seems to be discussed a lot on the forums is the ability for Plex to manage ebooks/mobi/pdf . This would be a GREAT addition to plex. Many other competitive media server packages support this.
I have made use of the Music category by “trick” organizing/categorize my audiobooks and it works really nice. I dont have a problem manually putting in the cover-art and backgrounds (my kids love it).
*Another option that would be a nice addition would be better manual manipulation to create “custom series video” It works kind of ok if you set it to “personal media”. But to be able to simplify it with the ability to manually put in a “show title” and then each “season”. Example: I can make a category named family video. then a show named ‘birthdays’ then have multiple clips from birthdays within that show. I have kind of sorted it out by creating fake seasons etc. but a more direct approach would be nice.
Lastly the geek in me has to ask… Highly doubtful that it would be a common request, but is there a way to make plex authenticate against LDAP or an Active Directory server. I have many users authenticating on my domain to services that I host. Some people that I share plex with would find it easier to use their domain username/pass for plex access. I also once tried to use plex to organize/categorize certification training videos for work. It worked good on the local network but didnt do well when users tried to view from home. Not a result of networking/port forwarding. It was the human element, making the users get separate accounts with plex.tv.
Again, I love what the project has evolved into and hope it continues to grow.
