New GUI - A Step backward - Slow and poorly placed functions

This new GUI sucks. Simplified to no end then all the things you need are hard to get at. Also very slow and clunky. To Shuffle a show its many clicks in and to reshuffle you have to go to a new menu to select every time. Plenty of room to make thinks easier but you went the opposite direction.. Definite step back.

Why does every new UI version keep making you click more and more to get to functions?

Now, if I want to turn on the subtitles for a program, it takes even MORE clicks to get to it, and that was on top of finding it in the first place.

Now:
Arrow over to (however many it is) and click on Program in season/series
Down arrow, down arrow, right arrow, click on “More”
Down arrow, down arrow, click on Playback Settings
Down arrow, click on Streams
Right arrow, click on Subtitles

That’s 7 movements minimum and 5 clicks, just to GET at subtitles. With 3-5 more clicks necessary at that point.

WHY so many?

The only real answer is that the people designing things at Plex are incompetent.

Didn’t there used to be a preview channel for Roku, where users could see/trial these changes beforehand? While I don’t dislike the new interface as much as others, I remember the fiasco of a year or two when Plex updated the Roku app right before Christmas, and it was unusable.

There’s a preview channel for Roku. When Plex announces “preview” releases they include the link.

You can run the Preview and Official releases side by side.

Agreed. It seem to be only on the Preview with 4k display type for a while. I even switched to 1080 display to get rid of it for a month or so then they all switched. Its not unusable but its bad enough I may look for another device other than Roku. Just slow, annoying and not well thought out. Some of the lay out does not look bad in 4k but where they put buttons and quick links is messed up. Why not make things simple and not put functions 4-5 menus in? Just poor programing.

They also hid the Shuffle button inside the sub menu. Me and my young kids use that all the time.

I agree, the new UI is terrible.

  1. you have to go through so many clicks to simply sync something

  2. the horizontal view for a season is garbage. Why do I have to scroll so far to see everything

  3. go back to what it used to be
