Please roll this update back. Can’t stand it. Or should I just move to Jellyfin?
The more I use this the worse it gets. The button pushes sometimes don’t work. I can’t play media that is marked as watched. When I finally was able to navigate to my libraries, I can only see continue watching, or recently added… things like that. I can’t actually look at my libraries. The ‘skip intro’ button when I start an episode doesn’t work. None of the navigation buttons work when I’m playing media…. more and more. As I said Roll it back!
This is agony. Why is my Home screen a blank slate? Where did my pinned libraries go? Begging for a reversion before I install Jellyfin. A staggering amount of space is being wasted vs showing posters to browse.
Go in and favorite your libraries - it’s similar to pinning them in the previous UI.
I’m not saying it’s the same or better, but it will populate your home screen in a similar fashion. You can also order the libraries so the “recommendations” show up in a more purposeful order.
After I’ve set them as favorites, select a library and hit the star button on your remote. I believe that this will then give you a menu with one option being “reorder”. From there you can move it left or right to set the order.
I’m not in front of the TV right now but I believe this is how I did it.
I did this across two profiles and it stuck - both my kids’ profile which is very limited in the number of libraries and my own profile which has roughly 10 libraries. I don’t use all 10 as “favorites”.
Go to the horizontal list of libraries and scroll all the way to the “…” at the right. Click on that and you get the “all libraries” screen. Use the arrow to navigate to the heart and select it. Move down to the next library you want to favorite and do the same. This is where I’ve favorited several libraries for the home screen but not all. I then changed the order of the libraries as you said above you know how to do.
Absolutely horrible. Same interface used on the mobile devices and it’s a pain in the butt to navigate - so many clicks just to get to a list of movies that was one click away! Did anyone bother to check and see if UI updates were even needed? This feels so much like someone trying to find something to do. What exactly was the problem with the old UI? There is such an idea of only making changes when something is broken. If you had a majority of users complaining about the old interface, then I guess there is a reason to stand on, but this feels so much like somebody just wanting to change becaue they learned some new UI skills.
Trying to play a movie from a search for instance doesn’t even default to movies on my own player, it shows me links to a “Plex” online version that has ads! I have to scroll through search results and find a link to my system to even get the list of my movies.
Useless menu move, useless animations (sudden resizes), useless changes.
I understand you want to push live tv and on demand, but this is over design that no one wanted. It was the straight forward simplicity that got people to use your product.
Our Roku Streambar updated and it’s so cumbersome to navigate. The ease of access was so much better before. This new update is something for a touch-screen and not easy to navigate with a remote control.
The defaults are pretty bad and limited. We like seeing the whole library and not one or two recommended titles.
I went through all the settings and couldn’t find anything to make it easier to see where anything is or how to change it.
My mom’s a senior, she’s not all for this sleek design.
Honestly appreciate the help. Hopefully they will either sort this disaster out and the reorder will be helpful or they’ll just roll it back to something functional.
Agreed this is Miserable, finally was able to find my library and selected a show than its like my remote was unable to move to select a season or show, only way i can seem to get it to even sort of work is i have to start watching a season on my internet brower to get it into the continue watching screen on my home screen than go to my roku tv and when i click on it in the resume watching section than my remote will move through the screen like normal and i can play the video..there is no way they tested this on roku and said yup this is a upgrade or even useable.
