I have been using Plex for a little over a year. Got a new machine and followed the instructions to migrate the settings from one machine to another. For the most part, that went real smooth and I followed the instructions step by step. It didn’t carry over my playlists, so no biggie. I did remove the old library locations as it said to do and as I said, everything updated and so far so good …
System specs :
Im on a Mac / El Capitan is the OS / running the latest version of PMS
I just did a fresh install of PMS. I have a very large library and I use iTunes as my backend
After scanning for approx 2 1/2 days all 3 of my libraries Music / Movies / Compilations are all accounted for, indexed etc.
The server works great. One problem. I can’t get it to cross search the libraries and give me the results I had on my last install … that being … when searching for the band Bad Company, it showed me their studio albums (located in my music library) and also showed me the tracks available to me on some 1970s compilations (located in my compilations libarary) I have created.
Now when I do a search, its shows me only the studio albums … it won’t search the compilations library and show me those results.
The file structure in iTunes is
/music : contains all my music files
/music/compilations : Contains the folder within the music directory of all my albums that are compilations - This is how iTunes sets it up
When creating the Plex libraries I created one for
Music, having it look at and scan the music directory and all sub directories (of which compilations is part of)
and then created the compilations Plex library, having it scan only the /music /compilations folder and its contents
Any reason why the search won’t give me both the music albums for Bad Company as well as the results for the compilation albums?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
