New Plex Server 1.23.3.4707 Causes Can’t View Movie Cover… The solution is to downgrade the Plex Server version to 1.22.0.4163 until 1.22.3.4523
(Synology DSM 6.1.7-15284 Update 3).
I having the same issue after updates 1.23.3.4707…Plex version under Synology
All the movie cover can’t display…
I fixed it by using the lower version 1.22.0.4163.
I wondering why plex keeps changing the root directory of metadata…
I don’t think that’s what the OP reported before… this thread was not about posters not being displayed but the libraries actually being gone (for whatever reason).
I’m not sure what you’re referring here. The only actual change of the directory structure is related to the upgrade to DSM 7 which brings very new requirements and option as for how apps must work on the platform. Beyond that, Plex doesn’t change metadata directories.

Was that only happening in your Android client or did the posters also not show in other clients (e.g. Plex Web)?
Also… what exact version of Plex for Android are you using? 5.x.x.x. doesn’t seem to be an actual version (latest public release is v8.19.1)

I found one thing the original plex file create for Synology spk name is
“PlexMediaServer-1.22.0.4163-d8c4875dd-x86_64.spk” (On March 2021).
at 27 March 2021 the file name has been change PlexMediaServer-1.22.1.4228-724c56e62-x86_64_DSM6.spk
Which i tested with older version plex server 1.22.0.4163 has no issue.
understand. But I have the legacy android device version OS under 4.4.x. tv box. which still able to operate as normal. Once I updated the Synology Plex server’s new version I can’t see a single cover.
Is this only about that legacy Android TV box (e.g. do you still see the covers on other apps or the web version of Plex)?
At the Web version of chrome browser, I still able to see.
Only legacy tv box can’t see. (but once I downgrade back to the Plex server version, I able to see everything as normal).
Which exact version of Plex for Android (TV) do you have installed on that legacy Android box?
I’m using Plex version 5.5.0.227 at the android legacy TV box.
Ok… that’s a really old version (this was released 4.5 years ago).
If you cannot update that box you’ll probably need to live with more and more functions no longer working right. Any chance to replace it with a current generation model (or Android / Roku / Apple TV / …)?

But so far so good. If I never update the (Synology) Plex server version the device still works.
Nowadays, technology in apps and smart devices is very fast-changing.
Which prices of the smart devices getting higher in other countries.
We think is difficult to sustain and balance between price and technology.
Fair point, and I agree there’s no use to jump the ship every time a new model is released – though that device seems to have been around for quite some time; keep in mind you seemingly were only not able to update it for the last 4.5 years… that’s not accounting for the time it was actively supported. When we estimate the device itself is approx. 7 years old, you got quite a lot out of it.
On the other hand… product choice can impact that balance. For comparison… I’ve handed down my original Apple TV 4 from 2015 to my parents and from the looks of it it’ll still be able to upgrade to the new tvOS version due later this year.

Apple generally stop support at about 8 year mark, which I think is fair. That does not mean TvOS will not work for a couple more years. I believe the soft spot of New tech and price will present it self well before EOL of most devices, there are exceptions mind you.

I only tested DSM 6.x.x
I will wait to and updated version fom Plex.
