New RPM Base URL

Server Version#: Version 1.15.4.994
Player Version#: Version 3.95.2

In some of the forum topics it is mentioned that the previous method of auto-updating through Yum in case of a RHEL-based Linux distribution, the URL (https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/rpm/$basearch/) points to the old build server for Plex.

I was wondering if there is any new URL available yet that points to the new build system so that I can auto-update Plex via Yum/RPM again.

Hi Chuck,

In the thread you mentioned I can only see Debian-related info, not ‘yum’/RHEL-related info. A simple ‘yum update’ does not yield the same prompt as ‘apt-get update’ does.

Kind regards,
Rowan

This is odd. I’ve compared your config with mine and they looked exactly the same, other than my config having ‘enabled=1’.

I’ve copy/pasted yours and adjusted the ‘enabled’ flag to 1, run ‘yum update’ again and now it sees the new Plex version as an update.

Anyone on Fedora 28 or below can’t use it due to a DNF bug.
It’s been fixed in 29
If you’re using 30, all bets are off. :man_shrugging: what it is

I’m on CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core), :man_shrugging:.

The root cause was found on Friday night.
I wrote up an addendum to the support ticket and submitted it.
