I can’t be the only one annoyed by the new one second transition effect on every tap? It’s so slow and distracting.

Yup, that. The splash screen and the new cross-fade are both two terrible UX decisions in my opinion. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d much rather be staring at a loading spinner for ten seconds rather than a stoic splash screen when the network is playing up.
There’s other stuff too like how when the player is buffering the pause button is disabled, so if you go to the settings menu to do something else there’s no way to stop it resuming randomly when it’s buffered. Plex is a killer app with an infuriating interface sometimes.
