Okay, so I have been using Plex for years as a Plex-pass user and the new interface on mobile devices stump both me and everyone else using it at my home.
It is absolutely horrendous and much worse than the old one. Finding what you are looking for is a lot harder now.
Please give us an option to revert the interface.
I am right now looking for other solutions because this is quite simply not usable. It’s just really, really ■■■■■■■ bad.
The old interface had it’s challenges, sure, but it was easy to find what you were looking and easy to understand whereas the new one seem to be made by someone who went to artschool and thought that what they learned about Pollock was applicable to user interfaces. News-flash: it isn’t.
Yeah I’m going to agree, I went into my System Settings->Apps and deleted all the app data and cache, it reverted back to the old interface and seems like the old app before the recent update at the end of July.
The latest update or updates, released after the end of July, also have horrible playback. I’m on a severely restricted connection at the moment (I’m a rural/regional/country resident of Australia) and it made all content unplayable due to constant buffering including on the lowest conversion (0.3Mbps) usually on the older update/app I could stream at 0.7Mbps at the least.
I’m going to continue to update my Plex Media Server but so far I have turned off all Automatic Updates for my mobile and TV devices.
PS: It seems that this issue is across the board, a quick look at the Plex App feedback on the Play Store seems to confirm the exact problems I am having.
I agree. The Android mobile, Xbox One and PS4 apps have gone down hill. I was initially attracted to Plex because of its simple UI.
Now there trying to automate things for you, e.g., “Top Movies in Thriller”, “More from SundanceTV”, or “Top Movies with Nicholas Cage”. This is ruining the interface. Isn’t that what collections are for? To customize your own categories. At least give us the option to turn all these irritating features off. When I choose “Movies” on the bottom panel, all I want to see are all my movies. From there I can decide to go into my collections.
