Newly added tracks are not posted to the same artist, instead a new artist/album is created for each track

Server Version#:1.18.1.1973
Player Version#: 3.104.2

ever since that “upgrade” to a better music agent, I have the following problem: when adding a new track to the same artist/same album, this new track gets placed in a new artist/new album. So I have a copy of artist/a copy of album for each track added AFTER that server upgrade to the music agent. All the tags/spelling is identical. Tried to create a brand new library and to add these tracks there - sure enough, for each track a new artist, and a new album gets created. Advanced settings for the library cannot be saved when I try to refuse plex to add any non-local metadata. Surprisingly, my main premium music folder works fine when adding plex metadata. Is fingerprinting all wrong for non-plex-metadata updates? Any ideas?

thank you very much for your response. Unfortunately, most of it is inapplicable. As I mentioned, it only affects the new tracks, not the old ones. But if I create a new library with the old folder filled with tracks, they do get treated the new way - album per track. So it can’t be the tags. And my tagging is automatic, with scripts. So I am still suspicious of the new fingerprinting and very weary of programmers who are prone to create bugs

Time will tell. Maybe the bugs will die, the agents improve, or I will give up on Plex. Whichever comes first
