Under each artist in my music library I have a folder labeled ‘0000 Misc’ that creates an “album” for those various tracks - each song is tagged with proper artist, sortartist and ‘0000 Misc’ as album and sortalbum, but since last update, the songs are split apart into separate albums when looking at that artist in my library. If anyone could provide help it would be appreciated
You’ll have to activate ‘Prefer local metadata’ in the properties of your music library, if you want plex to follow your metatags.
Keep in mind that all your metatags need to be 100% correct if you activate this. Plex will follow them blindly.
Particularly with albums where there are different track artists (e.g. sampler albums or album with collaborators or ‘featured’ artists on some tracks) you want to set the ‘Album Artist’ meta tag on all tracks of that album to exactly the same content.
Otherwise your albums will get fractured or, worse, stuffed into ‘Various Artists’.
I already have and always have set ‘local media assets’ as the priority and all tags have been carefully checked and re-checked.
I don’t mean the order of the agents under
Settings - Server - Agents
Have you converted this library already?
Did you ‘Refresh Metadata’ on this artist?
I have refreshed metadata for the artist, have also removed folder, scanned, re-added folder and scanned again, this still did not fix it. Using the edit tag function shows the same artist, sortartist, album, and sortalbum for each of these track in the folder. I have been doing this for months as I digitize my collection and all previous ‘0000 Misc’ albums are fine. Just the last ones added are a problem. I appreciate your help.
What about the ‘Album Artist’?
I use MP3TAG, artist = ‘Jack White’, album artist = ’ Jack White’, artistsort = ‘White, Jack’, album = ‘0000 Misc’, albumsort = ‘0000 Misc’
thanks for the help, but i found away to fix the problem - all track numbers were blank for this album, i added track numbers and now all are contained in one folder, all is OK, thanks for the help, really appreciated
