.nfo local files - losing genres

I generate all my own nfo files using Ember media Manager. Feeds both into xbmc and Plex. I am finding a lot of my movies are missing part of their genre and traced it down to Plex is only grabbing the first 2 genres.

Example, for Arthur Christmas, the .nfo has following…yet plex only see’s Animation and comedy
Animation
Comedy
Family
Drama
Christmas

Changing .nfo and rearranging the genres, plex still continues to grab/update from first two only. IE, move Christmas into second position, pushing comedy down and refresh meta data, plex now shoes genres as only Animation and Christmas.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

FYI, the agent used is “Local Media Assets (Movies)”

Plex does not read anything from .nfo files
Particularly not the Local Media Assets agent.

You need the .nfo importer agents for that.
If you want these .nfo files to be your primary metadata source, you also want to move them to the top under Settings - Server - Agents

In most cases, I’m pretty sure that only the first two genres are displayed, even if it has others. View the XML for the video and you should see the whole list of genres associated with the file. Those “hidden” genres are all there and work if you use a filter on your movies.

That was it…only showing first two genres on screen, but XML showed full set. Additionally I found some of the movies do not have the full genres in the XML, but when I say to refresh metadata, then they show up. Possible I imported during time when a bug existed in the local media agent? Maybe movie nfo was updated afterwards? Usually I do not touch the nfo once created and can’t imagine not ensuring “christmas” is not labeled onto holiday movies. Anyways, I did a “refresh all metadata” via library option and suddenly my genres are now showing up. Yay!
