No Hardware Transcoding on Plex

Server Version: 1.25.6.5577

Hello,

I just switched from DSM to OMV, and I have a problem, Plex refuses to hard transcode my media.

No problem with Jellyfin

With you an idea? ( chmod 777 /dev/dri or specifying GUID=107 does not change anything

Merci

My compose :

  plex:
    image: lscr.io/linuxserver/plex:amd64-latest
    container_name: EVOPlex
    network_mode: host
    environment:
      - PUID=1001
      - PGID=100
      - VERSION=latest
      - UMASK=022
    mem_limit: 8192M
    devices:
      - /dev/dri:/dev/dri
    volumes:
      - ./plex/transcode:/transcode
      - ./plex/config:/config
    restart: unless-stopped

Please ask in the OMV forums.

Sorry , but OMV isn’t officially supported

To make matters worse, I have been unable to install OMV in a VM for testing / vetting.

You might want to look at this

      - ./plex/transcode:/transcode
      - ./plex/config:/config

Relative addressing? wouldn’t you use an absolute path?

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I’ve done this before with no solution.

Either way, no change :frowning:

Hello !

I found the solution.

On Synology ( DSM ), I needed to add VaapiDriver=“i965” in Preferences.xml at some point for hard transcoding to work. I just deleted it now that I’m on OMV, and hard transcoding works! Thank you

This is on a -10xxx CPU?

Yes , i3-10100T

thanks. The i965 driver can only be used up through the -9xxx CPUs.
The -10xxx is a clean break on Intel’s part from all things in the past; including the i965

Thank you for that clarification
