Server Version#: 1.18.8.2527 (Nimbustor4)
Player Version#: 4.25.2 (Samsung UA65RU8000KXXS)
Hello all,
I have few raw video collection of:
DJI Osmo Action H.264 (8 bit player profile set to 5.2) 50/60fps AAC2.0 OsmoAction.xml.txt (2.4 KB)
DJI Mavic 2 Pro H.265 (10 bit) 30fps no audio Mavic2Pro.xml.txt (2.2 KB)
Both 100mbps which has no issue with direct play couple months back. I mean raw as in it’s not edited came straight from the sdcard. I usually preview them on the large TV many times before editing.
There were several server and player updates after which I can no longer play them directly without transcoding. I wasn’t really paying attention and can’t tell which player version exactly broke this but I believe it started somewhere when the “Disable video stream transcoding” server option was introduced (hope it’s also not a server version related but I did tried to downgrade the server before this point it doesn’t help). There were no other changes made except for the version upgrades.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Any advise? Thanks in advance!
Responding to your post here instead of in the other thread, since that one’s resolved.
We added the max bitrate because some files failed to play altogether when the bitrate is too high. The bitrate is set according to Samsung’s media specs. Note that on the pages, it’s noted: Media with higher bit or frame rate than specifications can cause video or audio playback to stall. I’ve tested a few files and it seems some files are still working, but some videos are experiencing jitters and playback issues as well. I’ll do a bit more testing to see, but we’ll see if we can raise the cap a little bit.
Thanks for replying, really appreciate it. Hope you can find the actual root cause for those videos having issues, probably not encoded properly which I’ve encountered before with some foreign sources even those lower than 10 Mbps ones and fixed by re-encoding again.
These Tizens are capable of decoding slightly over 100 Mbps bit rates despite their official specs mainly I think limited to user’s network bandwidth but the apps shouldn’t have a cap on this let the user decide. I mean I can concurrently direct stream multiple of these 100 Mbps UHD video files over my home internet connection without issues but I may also choose to limit the bandwidth to say FHD 10 Mbps by transcoding.
Got a new mavic air 2 today which records around 100Mb/s. Haven’t played back from my original mavic air in a few months but never had a problem direct playing until I tried today and found this post. I have some video that is around 125Mb/s and also never had an issue with direct play. Please remove this crippling limitation!
