No longer seeing option to 'add all' when selecting media to add to playlist

Normally, I would select multiple items to add to a playlist by ticking the top most one that I wanted to add and then scroll to the last item I wanted to add and shift+click to select the bottom item and all the intermediate items. This is an extremely common way of selecting a lot of items at once and it has been a working technique for me for a while to do things like create new playlists. As of today, I don’t seem to be able to select multiple things other than by individually clicking on each item.

What am I doing wrong and/or is there a newer better way to select multiple items?

I see new options to add a bunch of selected items to collections and other options I had not previously seen. So I’m guessing something might have been altered.

Server Version#: 1.23.1.4602. [PMS for Mac]
Player Version#: Plex Web Version 4.57.4

The trick is to scroll to the end of what you want to select slow enough so Plex will actually load all the items in-between (indicator: posters actually showing). With that in mind you should be able to use the shift+click mass-select and add all items to that playlist.

Thanks for the tip. Worked as indicated.

Strange that all of a sudden my server slowed down so much that I had to ask the question. I’ve never experienced that during the years I’ve been running a PMS.

I don’t think this is about your server. I suppose it’s a technique to speed up loading your front-end by focusing what is being loaded on what is being displayed (or about to be displayed). Look at it like this: if you have a library of 1000 movies – Plex can load the entire library at once (making you wait until that’s done) or load id in slices. If you jump from the beginning of the list to the very end, the slices in the middle might end up not being loaded (beyond their placeholder).

I do think something is going on with my server now. It seems to make sense as to why it was taking so long to load items that I noticed it.
I was just viewing my home page and I noticed that a playlist did not have an image cover. Upon further review, many of my playlists did not have image covers and all of them that did not were also empty as if nothing was included or as if the media had been deleted. I knew that was not the case so I shut the server down and restarted it. No change. So I figured I’d run ‘Update Libraries’ and I was surprised by all of the items it seemed to be discovering.
It was surprising because I have the options to automatically scan my libraries, run partial scans and scan my libraries periodically (every 2 hours) all turned on. Additionally, I have scheduled tasks set for everyday which includes the option to update all libraries during maintenance.
Considering all of the opportunities for my PMS to have discovered any new media additions since the last time new media was added I don’t understand why this discovery had not previously occurred. This seems like an issue to me as it has never happened before.
