Hello all, I am currently on an LG B9 that is connected directly to my Denon S540BT via arc using a premium 8K HDMI cable. No matter what settings I’ve tried I cannot get Plex to play DD+ audio. I find a movie I want to play that has EAC3 audio and no matter what it shows up as “DD” on the Denon. If I go to playback stats it says “can direct stream audio: false” which I assume is the issue. If I boot up my PS4 pro and play the same movie on the plex app, no issues. Denon shows DD+ on the screen and plays fine. Does the built in LG Plex app not support DD+? Is there anything I can do to get DD+ vs just regular DD?
My LG B9 is currently set to HDMI ARC audio, passthrough. Plex audio settings have all formats checked including EAC3
The issues you are experiencing is due to the Plex WebOS app. It has not been actively updated or maintained. I have a similar issue when trying to play music FLAC files.
I have OLEDB9 as you connected with ARC to Anthem receiver. The plex keeps transcoding all my FLAC music to AAC. When I use XPlay app it works without issues. My av receiver can handle up to 24bit/192khz sampling, but the webOS app is not allowing the direct play.
We all have high hopes that Plex will eventually update the webos player app to be on par with player on android.
