Trying to give plex a spin, but I cant find the plex app on xbox one?
I have not yet signed up for a pass subscription, and I understand you can only use the xbox one plex app with a subscription, but before I add a subscription, I would like to know I can indeed use the app?
Does plex somehow automagically know that I am not a plex pass subscriber and therefore hide the app from my xbox live store?
I am in South Africa, but operate on a US region with a US Live gold account. I can use netflix, hulu etc.. so not sure if this is a region lock thing...
The Plex App should be available to, it doesn't appear or disappear based on your Plex Pass status. If you're using a US Account you should be able to search for Plex in the marketplace.
If you do get a Plex Pass once the app is installed you will need to pair your Xbox Live Account to your Plex account with a numerical Pin through the Plex website. After that if you try and log in without a Plex Pass the application will tell you that you need one. (You also get this message if you sign into a different Xbox Live Account)
I can see Plex in the Xbox One store app when my console is set to South Africa and to US. My actual live account is set to US too, as I assume yours is.
Do you have a smartphone? If so, maybe you can try download the Xbox SmartGlass app and search there. If you do find it there you can install it from the app and it will appear on the console.

Hey guys thanks for the info. Yes indeed Rogue.. thats how I eventually got it. Sorry I am only replying now. Got it in smart glass and installed form there... Still don't know why the heck I could not find it in the store.. maybe I was just being a numb nut, had a very late night re-arranging the man cave to accommodate the new xbox one :-)
