No sync option even though I have Plex Pass?

hi at all,

I see no sync option neither on my fire TV Stick app nor on my plex media player.
how come? that feature was my main reason for plex pass.

what can I do about it?
best wishes.

Mobile sync is only available for our mobile apps. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200889968-mobile-sync-overview/

is there any reason why fire tv stick (which is mobile for me) and PMP do not support that important feature?

Just guessing but, maybe, because the Stick has no real internal memory for storage?

what? it has 8GB! which is enough for a few episodes on the go. so why is the option no implemented?
same goes for PMP. where is the reason?

I do not think that memory is for media storage but I could be wrong. I have never heard of video being stored on any Fire device.

yes, you are wrong. it is absolutely usable in any other app. so why not plex?

So you are saying that you can store media on the stick and then unplug it and take it to another location and then without any network or internet connection plug it in and play that media? That I have truly never heard of.

yes, you can of course unplug the stick and use it on another location with all the media stored on it (it HAS INTERNTAL STORAGE!). that was the main reason I bought the thing. pleas contribute to the thread or be quiet. WHY DOES PLEX NOT GIVE US THE FEATURE ON PMP AND FIRE DEVICES?

Because they are meant and designed for devices connected to a stationary TV. PMP was made for HTPCs connected to a stationary TV.

Folks may take their desktop computers to Starbucks with a big CRT and everything that doesn’t make it a laptop.

You can sync to your phone and cast/fling to the app on your firetv

so there is NO technical reason why it is withheld from fire devices?

because using the phone to stream to fire takes additional the wifi bandwidth, right?

I would rather just have it on the stick and not have to carry my phone around when I just want to watch an episode on the hotel TV.

please check the tickbox for “allow sync on fireOS” since it is already in the android app.

Fire sticks have crappy memory and can barely run the app as is. A cell phones have immensely more memory to run apps and do what it would need to do to actually run sync

If you want to make a feature suggestion there is a feature suggestion category. There may already be one regarding this there

same suggestion goes for PMP. Many of us use laptops and win10 portable devices. why cant they get sync?

Because mobile sync was designed for mobile phones so you could watch stuff when you don’t have internet like on the subway, driving through a tunnel or on a plane.

that was a great intention back in 2010 when smart sticks and OTG tablets/hybrids where not invented. but since the feature is there, why not expand it? it has been asked multiple times. why the restriction to just iPads, iPhones and android phones?

Again if you want to make a feature suggestion then make one of the feature suggestion category. I have nothing personally against the idea. You asked why, I told you why.

ok, thanks. I have a feeling it has been requeste several times. and looking at plex’ current state I guess feature requests are something they cannot really deal with now. but I am going to give it a shot.
