I realize this question has been asked in various ways in the forum. None of the answers have worked for me. It’s frustrating, so I hope that someone may be able to help.
I’m running the latest version of Plex (Plex Pass edition) on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS server edition in a virtualbox VM. Install went without incident.
My media files are on a NAS4Free box.
I am able to mount the shares to ubuntu, and browse the directories. In the plex wep app, I can browse the shares and play the files.
The user is for ubuntu is the same as the user for NAS4Free, with the same password.
The DVR, however, can not write to the NAS shares, giving the error: No write access to destination.
I have tried numerous fixes for this.
- I have created a separate directory on the Ubuntu server, and set that directory in the DVR. This works, but I want to record onto my NAS.
- I have added plex user to the same groups as joe.
- I have added a plex user to my NAS
- I have given the plex user on Ubuntu root group access
- I have mounted my shares in a new root directory /plex instead of /media
- I have changes the privileges for every single directory involved to 777
Within the Ubuntu CLI, I can browse the shares, write to them, copy files from the Ubuntu hard drive to the shares.
But the DVR doesn’t work…
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Joe
