Not Picking Up Newly Re-arranged Photos

Server Version#: 1.15.2.793-782228f99

With all of my additions and rearrangements, I am finding that when I have Plex re-scan my photo library, it is NOT showing all of the subfolders. Currently, I have over 250k photos physically in the folders. As I am reviewing them, I find some out of place date wise and/or of a different subject that I want to split out the current folder that they are in. I pretty much store by year/month/day/subject.

For an example, currently in 2003 on the disk, I have 31 main folders, yet in the Plex player, I am showing only 6 holders. They actually like like the 6 folders are ones that I have yet to review and sort through.

I have rescanned, analyzed, but not done a refresh metadata yet. I have also shutdown the server and restarted it and the missing folders within Plex Player are still gone. I have also tried Plex Players on other devices with the same results.

Suggestions?

Logfiles, captured after restarting Plex please?
It’s possible you’re exceeding the default Linux table limits (easily addressible)

What log files?

Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs

It will present you with a ZIP file.

Those log files please. Please attach the ZIP it presents you

It looks like you added a lot of photos.

Would you be kind enough to restart Plex, wait 60 seconds, then collect the logs again? I would like to see the startup sequence. I suspect the Notify table is filling up. If so, we can address this easily.

Did you happen to figure this out? I am still hung up trying to add or even sort and move photos.

There are no errors being reported.

The only thing seen is a continuous stream of autotagging being throttled.
I cannot see how many have been added but do ask “Do you need image tagging?”
If not, perhaps turn it off?

Is it possible that I need to remove the library completely, and recreate it? I have a lot more reorganizing that I have to do. Some pictures in the wrong year/folders.

By the time I am finished (I am scanning and working with early negative/slides/pictures) I could for all pratical purposes, all things considered and by in large, have upwards of 500,000 or more pictures.

This is kind of a family project as well as my own professional photo building.

If you have that many photos, I would recommend:

  1. Delete the library section
  2. Complete all reorganization
  3. Recreate the library section
  4. Give PMS time (knowing that the butler does tagging) to complete everything.

butler scans/processing should be separated out from library scans, so that libraries can be updated and not blocked from updates until butler catches up.

Butler scans do the tagging.
Main Libary scans find the photos.

With all your moving, Plex won’t see it again because it’s already in the database at the old location. The “Plex Dance” is needed (this is being fixed).

This is why it’s best to just create fresh when all done. Moving data in-situ is never a good idea.

Thank you, it was what I thought.

Now if I could tag a folder, it would be perfect.
