Nothing will get fixed until Plex fixes their attitude

We are your customer. Not people with paid subscriptions to the swamp of streaming services. Yeah, we feel abandoned. You’re obsessed with customers that frankly, don’t need you.

I’d tell you about all the crap I’m now seeing in my data management that you keep screwing around with and the enormous flubs you’ve made with the UI on the player devices. There’s just so much I don’t know where to start. And it’s not worth my time to go into these issues with you because I see everyone’s issues getting ignored for years on end.

The root of the issue is your intentions. Someone or some working group at Plex thinks they’re making great business decisions by focusing resources on new markets that are not going to respond to what you’re offering instead of setting the gold standard for the market you have right here. There was a time you were the gold standard. Yesterday (figuratively speaking) I wouldn’t have imagined looking at second rate programs like Emby or Jellyfin. But today, I realize Plex has become second rate and far from hassle free. Enjoy the new market. Cause this one is going to go away from you. It ain’t going to be much longer before the others surpass you given their focus. Have a nice life!

Way too dramatic and emotional. I don’t think you’re going to get their attention with this post.

Thanks for this. I’ve seen a few similar posts. Few so frank and to the point. And I share your frustrations. Unfortunately, I don’t expect it to alter their attitude of arrogant indifference.

I’ve been vocal over the past 10 years (moreso the past 3-4 years) about some of the growing warts with Plex but to be honest, it still does what I want as a media server across various platforms. Actually, it does exceptionally well for our needs.

I totally get the need for some disgruntled users to vent, so yes, go ahead and then find something else.

Is it mandatory to make a lil rant whenever you’re leaving Plex? Guess it’s feedback? These type of posts always amuse me. I get it though. Good luck mate.

LOL

I just came over to Plex, after using Emby for many years. My windows NAS currently runs plex server, emby server, jellyfin server and Channels DVR server, all at the same time, no problems. I’ve been testing them all.

For clients, I have firesticks (hate the interface), nvidia shield pro (hate the interface), roku ultra’s (simple and clean but annoying small ads) and the new 3rd gen appletv box (really fast, clean interface).

I can tell you that the Plex media server is a gazillion times better than the others. Maybe two gazillion. So far ahead, it’s almost absurd to compare them.

Same goes for the clients. Plex clients are far superior than the others, and any comparison quickly points this out.

Even addons like dizquetv (plex) vs. ersatztv (jellyfin) it’s the same, the plex addons far superior.

Sure, I’ve heard issues of long time plex users not happy with direction blah blah blah, and maybe I’d feel the same way too if I were a long time plex user, but as someone who has recently tested all of the alternatives, again, it’s a no brainer, plex wins, easily.

I could give specific examples, but that would take forever to write, way too many examples, but don’t take my word for it, install the other servers on your NAS (they all do run just fine side by side, although both emby and jellyfin default to the same open port to access the web interface, so change one of them).

Happy to be here. Hope this helps.
