I run both, but for me Plex beats Emby hands down. The only reason I would maybe move to Emby is the live TV functionality but I’m hoping Plex will add that at some point.
My thoughts:
Plex has much better look and feel in all of their clients. My main client is the Roku and while the new Emby client looks a lot better, it’s still pretty clunky and every time I use it, it tries to upsell me to their Premiere subscription. Every single time.
the Xbox client needs Premiere as well and is clunky to navigate too
I’ve not had any playback issues with Plex, last time I had a playback issue with Emby the only way to fix it was to remove and recreate the library. That’s pretty drastic…
their flagship Windows client requires a subscription, whereas Plex can be bought as a single purchase.
Some server settings are pretty good though and I like the fact that functionality like Trakt is much more integrated in the server, but for me Plex is still miles ahead.

This is what they call a douchebag move. Advertising another platform on Plex’s site. It doesn’t matter how much better you think it is.
Hogwash.
My only requirement is when somebody can’t stand Plex enough to move to something else, what they move to is actually better than Plex and they provide a download link.
LOL
All indications are both of the aforementioned personal media solutions have the same problem - hideous User Interfaces. If you move to a new pile of dung you have to get used to a new group of beetles, but otherwise not much has changed so why bother?
Better the devil you know - and you don’t have to invent a whole new set of work-arounds.

Err no mate. If I wanted to go to Emby, I’d go and try Emby. There’s absolutely no need to ADVERTISE a competitors product on the companies website, luring people in with a clickbait threat title. That’s just called being a ■■■■.
OP seems like the type of person who enjoys throwing firecrackers at a chicken coop.
Ok I’ll bite. I tried Emby recently. It’s not bad. However I couldn’t uninstall it fast enough when I was forced to watch a 15 second ad to buy a pass, and a lifetime pass is only guaranteed for the coming 2 years.
No thanks, Plex has been good to us and I have never had an issue the awesome forum members couldn’t solve.
