I have all the Oceans movie but this is the only one doing it. Frank Sinatra Jr starts out and has commentary throughout the complete movie. Now, this only happens when viewing with Plex. If I view on the PC with VLC there is not any commentary. I have looked through forums and FAQs and no help so far.
I suppose the file has multiple audio tracks.
Plex will auto-select an audio track based on your account’s language settings.
Usually Plex picks the 1st track matching your language preferences. If that’s the track with the commentary that explains why Plex is playing this one.
Other players will select audio tracks based on the sequence of those tracks or certain metadata on that track (e.g. audio tracks tagged as default). When opening the movie’s homepage inside Plex you should see an option to select what audio track to use.
The same goes if you open the movie inside VLC.
Thanks for the reply. I guess that was the issue that really sucked. I had a choice between stereo and mono. With mono, it goes away and stereo brings it back!
Well… unless they re-taped / dubbed the audio you won’t get better quality than how it was recorded in the first place
There’s tools to specify names for individual audio tracks. If this is a MKV file your best choice is MKVToolNix. You can assign a “human readable” name to both tracks – at least for the commentary (e.g. “Commentary from Frank Sinatra Jr.”). After re-analyzing the item inside Plex that title should show up, making it easier to distinguish.
