Odroid HC2 as plex server

I currently use a Raspberry Pi3 as my plex server with storage on a usb drive attached to my router. It is SLOW remotely and I am considering changing to an Odroid HC2 I do remotely access my media so speed is an issue. Is this a reasonable solution? Is Odroid well supported for Plex.

This is a question that surely someone can answer better than I, but since no one has in over two months…

I am running Plex on an Odroid hc2 within an Openmediavault server. I started out ripping a few dvds and transcoding them mannually using Handbrake (Mac). I have also converted a ton of home iPhone videos to mp4. They all play back wonderfully in Plex.

The problem I have been having is getting set up with Live TV and DVR using HD HomeRun Extend. MY understanding was that the hc2 (or any low power machine like it) is not able to transcode because of lack of cpu muscle, so the HomeRun Extend was suppose to do the transcoding on the fly. There must be either: 1. False advertising on the part of HD HomeRun Extend, or 2. Some magical settings combination I haven’t figured out yet. The hc2 is a wonderful little machine, but maybe not if you want to pair it with a tuner to create a Plex DVR. Somebody out there prove me wrong and show me how.

Well as soon as I made the next search on this forum I found the answer to my transcoding problem here.

At least I have a recording in progress (which was more than I ever had before). Unless it falls through some how, I can give a hearty thumbs up to the Odroid hc2 as a Plex Media Server platform (inside Openmediavault for me).

Cheers everyone. It has been a stimulating conversation.
