Consistent interface across clients. Can the “Recently Added” view be changed to show a single show poster even when multiple episodes for that show have been added ? Currently it shows a separate poster for each episode so if I add an entire series I end up with 20 posters I need to scroll thru to get to the rest of the recently added shows (FYI I’m using Black Edition Skin). Just like PlexWeb and Android Client does, it could show a single show poster with an indicator of number of new episodes in the top right corner of the show poster.
I was unclear in above post. Referring to Plex Home Theatre here. Other client interfaces appear to already show recently added in the ‘right’ way, I’m only asking for the same great features across other platforms. Come on folks lets vote this one up - surely more PHT users would like to see their newest unwatched content show up instantly without having to click, filter, sort etc. :((
Happy to support this. It’s really annoying! Example behaviour of Recently Added Television after adding 8 episodes of TV show X and 5 of TV show Y:
- The web interface to my Synology based PMS (v0.9.12.19.1537) : A single TV poster for TV Series X and for Y with the numbers 8 and 5 top right respectively (Ideal)
- IOS Plex client (v4.0.8): A single TV poster for TV Series X and for Y (OK)
- MacOS PHT (v1.1.1.469-47a90f01) : 8 posters of series X and 5 of series y (yuck!)
- Windows PHT (v1.1.1.469-47a90f01) : 8 posters of series X and 5 of series y (yuck!)
So OK, MacOS and Windows is at least consistent, but it’s consistently yuck!
For ALL clients, not just PHT.
Or an option to combine new episodes into one poster. It’s annoying to see a complete screen of the same poster after you have ripped a complete season of a TV series and added it to Plex.
Looks like this is fixed in Plex Media Player. Just installed Windows Plex Media Player Preview via PlexPass downloads (v1.0.2.70-15a01542) and the Recently Added TV section works exactly as per my (Ideal) scenario above - excellent!
I’ll now go and have a play with the rest of PMP - looks like a real step forward…
This would clean up the interface a bit.
Yes all clients. Also, don’t forget the “Continue Watching” functionality too. I have Android TV devices and in the OS’s “recommended” bar Plex lists the “continue watching” and “on deck” items. Well there was a bug in Plex server awhile back that wasn’t marking 99% watched content as watched. So I was getting spammed in that bar for episodes of a show my wife watched. There was 7-10 entries because of that. Marking them as watched later cleared it up but it revealed that the “continue watching” functionality should be streamlined to only include either the earlier episode to continue watching or the latest episode that was interrupted.
PHT is no longer being developed by Plex except for possible critical bugs, so I doubt this will happen. As mentioned by apmurray69, Plex Media Player (PMP) is the successor to PHT and has this grouping.
A group of volunteers have taken on continuing to develop PHT, so you can try posting in their section. https://forums.plex.tv/categories/openpht
