(ONLY FOR SERIOUS TESTERS) Bleeding Edge Testing Releases

It occurred to me after I sent that, that perhaps what I’m talking about doesn’t work the same way in this add-on. I’ve never successfully used it which is why I’m in this thread to begin with. I was describing the way it worked in a regular Plex situation

sorry I didnt realise this was a question for me. These forums are a bit odd, im not used to them.
No, im not referring to that pull request… Im referring to the change in a3 included in the patch notes where info went from displaying plex info to kodi info.

“Allow Kodi info display to be visible when hitting the info button.”

What is described in that pull request sounds like a combination of both a2 and a3 infos which might be nice but all im saying is a2 was better than the current.

@ruuk
@panni

Just installed the latest version. for now works great and extremly quick. Plays everything on my Shield Tv 2019 (Tube) what i have - 4k HDR, HD,SD.
would it be possible to ad german language to the UI? i mean recently added movies etc… Hope you know what i mean.

Keep on testing.

UNO would be awsome.

Android Plex App does not work with my Shield so this is the best alternative.

Great work

Best regards

Thanks! Working for pretty much everything, using the latest build of Kodi with DSplayer on it. One thing I have noticed though is that external subtitle support does not want to seem to work. If I play videos using the normal video player in Kodi it works. If I use Plex directly, it works. But if I use the Plex app in Kodi, it shows a file, but I get nothing. Videos that has the subtitle mixed in with the file works. So only for shows, etc. that have a subtitle file for each episode (matching the filename of the episode just ending in .srt).

I can provide more info if needed, however figured this may be a known issue?

Thanks for this update
Working fine on RPi2 - LibreELEC (Leia) 9.2.0 (Kodi v18.5)

Any plan to merge this version to official Kodi repository ?

thanks for your informations…,
regards

v0.1.7a4

  • Fix transcode failures on Windows (possibly other platforms)

Assuming this last fix is fine, I’ll PR the latest changes to the official Kodi repo in the next few days.

Excuse my ignorance, but does this mean if I have a LibreELEC box with the “official” Plex for Kodi add-on installed that it will automatically update it?

Any fix on music playback? It’s still doing the blank screen issue. The music does start, though. On the Fire Stick, I have to hit home, go back to Kodi, and hit back to exit out of Kodi’s music player, which then leads me back to Plex for Kodi (with the music still playing, at least).

Version 0.1.7 is now in the official Kodi repo, so yes it should automatically update (pending mirror updates) to this version, which includes the mentioned fix and the other changes mentioned earlier in this thread.

v0.1.8.a1

  • Fix seek resetting when clicking select on seek bar with OSD visible
  • Add Spanish translations (thanks to rdcalle)
  • Add Portuguese (Portugal) translations (thanks to Generator)
  • Make python 3 compatible (thanks to pannal)

Download zip for beta repo - For Kodi 18

For Kodi 19: script.plex-0.1.8a1.zip - ONLY FOR KODI 19 (MATRIX)

Other than translations, this just adds one fix. The biggest change (that hopefully shouldn’t be noticeable ) is the Python 3 compatibility, which will allow supporting both Kodi 18 and 19 going forward. Assuming all goes well, this release will be added to the Kodi repo for both version 18 and 19.

Note: This release drops support for Kodi 17.

Awesome job Ruuk!

Hey guys.
I’ve seen version 0.1.7 got into the repository 2 days ago. Sadly I’m having an issue with when I want to move forward on that bar and select okay it just resets back.
That’s probably what ruuk has mentioned in the reply about 0.1.8.a1.

For me that was quite a bothersome issue. I reverted back to Kodi 0.1.6 over the zip from from the git releases.
I only have this issue on my Samsung TV but not on my mobile.

Another more or less bothersome feature is that in the first few seconds (about 5) the subtitles don’t display.

On the other hand subtitles in general work a whole lot better than the native Plex client from android store or the built in on my Samsung TV so props for that.

I will prolly try testing the newer versions too and try give feedback on what I see. I’m really quite dependent on that player as the native Plex one is just not really great.

So yeah looking forward to some nice new developments and hope I can somehow be of use to make this whole thing a greater experiance for everyone.

Thanks!

Oddly, I tried to install this for the first time about an hour ago,. I had an existing, up to date Pi4B with LibreELEC v9.2.1 which is Kodi 18.6.

When I search the repository it listed version 1.1.6. So I installed it and it seemed to work. Then maybe 30 minutes later while I’m in the settings it magically updated the add-on and now it’s 0.1.7.

I don’t see any difference, but it does work. Thank you!

PS: oddly, if I go here:

It says the latest release is 0.1.6.

Im running 0.1.7 now and it mostly works. Seeking through video’s unfortunately does not. The markers on screen work ok but when you press ok to jump to the seek location it simply goes back to where it was. Other than this it seems to be fine.

Ok I’m not crazy—seek has also been wonky for me with this release. Running on Vero 4K+.

Small thing I noticed and maybe helpful for some.

If you first bring up that UI during playback (sorry hard to give it a name. The one with pause, stop, settings etc…) the seeking doesn’t work.
But if you directly try to seek using the arrow buttons of your control it will work.

ruuk described it like this: Fix seek resetting when clicking select on seek bar with OSD visible

So yeah seeking itself is still working.

I have a 2nd remote, one of those bluetooth ones with the small usb dongle, if i put that into air mouse mode and click the progress bar where I want to seek to it works fine. If I bring up the UI as mentioned above and step to the point with the slider or the periodic dots then it doesn’t work. So at least I know I can use my remote to directly seek.

Thanks

Submitted v0.2.0 (basically the same as v0.1.8a1) to the official Kodi repo to get the seeking fix more generally available. This should take anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks to be merged, depending on availability of reviewers.

Just to make sure it’s clear, you will only get beta releases (i.e. versions that end in a1, a2, etc) if you install the repo linked in the first post. So if you want the fix before that time, you’ll need to install that. Once installed, you will then always get beta releases as they become available, so don’t install the repo if you don’t want that .

Hey guys,

v0.2.0 runs great! Just curious, what does “Use Plex/Kodi steps for timeline” do?

Thanks
