(ONLY FOR SERIOUS TESTERS) Bleeding Edge Testing Releases

Who this is for
Please, unless you are used to testing stuff, don’t use these builds. We want most people to use the builds that are included in the Kodi repo, but we need some help getting the missing features and enhancements we want out to the public, so a few testers would be great.

A few folks have shown interest in helping us test releases before we push them out to Kodi’s repo.

Eventually we want to have a testing repo, but for now I will post a .zip file in a thread below with the release notes of what we fixed/changed/etc.

Rules of testing
Please focus on the stuff mentioned in the release notes. I will delete posts that aren’t on topic.

If you do come across a something that is different than is the currently released version, please downgrade your add-on and verify that it is fact different, and if you can give us logs of both the release version and the testing version, that would be best and we really appreciate it.

Please post a debug log for every issue you’re reporting, the first time and be technical enough to tell us the Kodi version, Skin, what platform, etc

Installation
Please install the .zip the standard way, which is a repo zip… If you don’t know how to do this, please stick to the released version in the Kodi repo.

New updates will be pushed via this zip file, and automatically applied. Once an update is applied, please restart Kodi in order to make sure its functioning properly.

Downgrading
Under Video --> Add-ons highlight Plex and select i, or long press and goto Information.
Select ‘Update’ and pick the version to install, preferably the add-on repository one, unless testing for a specific issue.

Source Code
All of our development work happens in the ‘develop’ branch and is pushed to master, and all source is publicly available, unless we’re working on a unreleased feature.

Thanks guys! I hope this is helpful for everyone and gives you a little more visibility into the process, we appreciate your help!

Thanks for the update! Great to see the Plex for Kodi still being given some love!

Has anyone able to install 0.1.7a3? Repo still only showing 0.1.7a2 for me at the moment.

For me, Kodi shows the new version as available in the add-on info.

Try this: In Kodi go to Add-ons, go to the Add-on browser (the open package icon in Estuary). Press left to display the options slide-out and click Check for updates.

Thanks @ruuk - uninstalling, then reinstalling the repository seems to have done the trick. Many thanks again for your efforts with the updates!

@ruuk: When will this Kodi-addon get the new UI (UNO)??

Hopefully never. The UNO UI is terrible.

Anyone able to install the add on with Kodi v19 “Matrix” nightly ?

Thanks for the continuing work on the add-on!
Question about fix for issues when hubs are removed… How do I remove hubs?

Thanks

Can this be installed in The latest version of LibreElec? That system is fairly locked down from a repository standpoint and when I go to get the one that’s built-in to theirs it’s an older version.

I’ve tried the version they have in their repository and although it will start up and run it has a lot of issues. It’s useless for 3D – MVC which is the only thing I use that set up for anyway.

Appreciate the advice!

I dont see that this is for feedback but if not here then where?

  • Allow Kodi info display to be visible when hitting the info button.

This is not an improvement imo. The old one was better, it contained the same kodi info such as memory and cpu use, audio and video codec info etc but also the plex direct play or transcode info. It also isnt themed correctly becuase it takes the kodi theme.

Hey, I’m the author of most of the changes in this bleeding edge version. This was a fix for the “continue” hub which caused issues when it disappeared after it got emptied (e.g. the items were watched). There’s no way of removing hubs.

Did you use my fork before? If so, you might be referring to this pull request, https://github.com/plexinc/plex-for-kodi/pull/220, which hasn’t been merged yet. Hopefully it will be.

Gotcha. Thats a shame. It’s a handy feature of the official app .There’s not many things this add-on doesn’t do better though so thanks for the work.

You want to hide certain hubs from the home view? Anything in particular?

Hi, I like to hide hubs? I think they call them, the categories I dont want. For example I hide all the kids stuff on my main TV and only show the kids stuff on their TV. Its not parental control, just to clean it up.

That sounds more like libraries or even labels, not hubs.

Hi Yes, Libraries I guess they are called. Not Hubs.

If you are looking to hide libraries from a home/managed user just go into that user’s settings and stop sharing that library.

You can also go in and choose “labels” you want to share with a user. There are many way to control the granularity of what a managed user can see, but this is likely not the thread for it.

Check this out:

Thanks, That looks like a possibility. I would prefer to have the flexibility of the app though. for example it allows hiding stuff from the home page but still allows accessing content if desired.
Its totally not worth using the app for just this though, everything else is better on this addon. I was just saying it would be nice if possible.
