OpenConnect (OSX APP)

He said he's gonna develop something else right? Find out what it is.

I know what it is. It's a PlexConnect competition that'll come with a standalone app. But i want to keep using PlexConnect cause it's already packed with tones of features.

It might just have been me incorrectly reading things in the read-me. You are creating two folders, they are nested (OSX inside update, which is inside your PlexConnect folder), I think that is where my confusion came from. perhaps adding info to say to use this command when in your PlexConnect folder might be handy: mkdir -p update/OSX/ as that would create the nested structure if it does not exist, and not complain if, for example, update existed but OSX did not, it'd just create OS X.

Great work nonetheless :)

Wahlman. U should just put the necessary files in update/OSX then tell people to just download that folder and place in pconnect directory.

Tell him to do us a favor and jb atv3 instead. He really wanna go up against Baa?

Got it installed and seem to be running properly. I just followed the steps outlined in the Read Me but I have to be honest that I really don't know what any of those things actually mean.  Question for a newb though. What's the difference between choosing Bash and non Bash? Not knowing what Bash even is doesn't help matters Im sure!

I did not tell. I asked. If he can make a Plexify alternative it'll be amazing cause Plexify isn't developed anymore and have many bugs.

Or if he can jailbreak ATV3 it'll be better ;)

UPDATED OP!

What’s this webconnect?

I know what it is. It's a PlexConnect competition that'll come with a standalone app. But i want to keep using PlexConnect cause it's already packed with tones of features.

It tooks two months for Cyberon to make a non working remote app for PlexConnect, I don't know how long it will takes him to make a PlexConnect working alternative ??

This took Wahlman 6hrs. Diligent work!

Why would one need a plexconnect alternative? That’s like saying baas work is worthless. That’s stepping in toes and going too far.

That's what I wanted to say. Great work Wahlman !!

It's not the same (Yet i hope). It's much harder to use (Right now). I did not understand-Does it updating automatically after the complicated installation?

I tried telling him not to do that, unsuccessfully (For 2 hours, if being specific).

I think the game changer that any app needs is a webconnect option so you can manage PlexConnect from any device(s) web-browser(s).

Feel free to fork my github. I am open to suggestions and will always be completely open source. No exceptions!

The non bash has since been removed and only one bash plist is now required.

If it works at boot thats all that matters, all plists run plexconnect.py eventually, the plexconnect.bash has a network readiness check then launches plexconnect.py, where the non bash runs plexconnect.py directly

Cyberon thinks he is going to realistically compete with plexconnect & plex.tv that’s a good one. What a disappointing turn of events when it had so much potential. In other news WebConnect is comming together quote nicely so far soon enough everyone will be able to manage PlexConnect from anywhere.

I did not say it's needed but that's what he said he'll do. I don't think it's needed to and tried convince him for more then 2 hours. Anyway i hope he'll make the right choise cause doing PlexConnect by his own is a real waste of time :)

Cyberon has been erratic since the beginning. Better to stick to more reliable volunteers.

He’s a bright kid. But still a kid.

Ok, my brain is fried but I think I have most of the code in place for WebConnect. I still need to figure out how to properly get it to work but maybe someone can pickup where I left off. Here is how to install and test webconnect so far:

1. Install a webserver on osx from this link:

http://clickontyler....-mountain-lion/

Make sure its running on a non plexconnect port (DO NOT USE 53, 80, 443)

Im using port 9999) edit /etc/apache2/httpd.conf and change the listen port from its default of 80

2. Run this after you install or upgrade the latest script files from the OP:

## Navigate to PlexConnect/update/OSX

./webconnect.bash

3. Use a similar link to test webconnect (both are examples show below):

http://YOUR_IP_ADDRESS:YOUR_APACHE2_PORT/cgi-bin/bash.cgi

http://192.168.1.101:9999/cgi-bin/bash.cgi

* I just need to figure out how to run the scripts without root using cgi and it should be ready to go. If anyone has an knowledge on this let me know ;)

I have tried visudo and putting the scripts into /usr/bin with no success, yet.

Would it not make more sense for web pages to be served from the webserver part of PlexConnect, rather than run an entirely new one?

Being a github newb, what is the easiest way to download the files?

Pressed "Download ZIP" already? It doesn't get much easier than that...
