OpenConnect is a open source app that will automatically properly install plexconnect by cloning plexconnect into /Applications/PlexConnect on your Mac to enable easy updates, generate any desired cert (trailers, wsj, or iMovie), hi-jack desired atv app (trailers, wsj, or iMovie), and update PlexConnect automatically or on demand. The app has new easy to follow mode that will guide you how to install plexconnect on your Mac and apple tv from start to finish. It is based on a few of @markuswarrens script tricks & some modified PlexConnect scripts. Enjoy ;)
Download the app here:
WebConnect (install from OpenConnect's expert mode) has been implemented and is now available as a optional app addon. -manage PlexConnect from any web-browser, any device, anywhere. Don't limit yourself to just ios and android devices ;)
Open source by definition:
In production and development, open source as a development model promotes a. universal access via free license to a product's design or blueprint, and b. B) universal redistribution of that design or blueprint, including subsequent improvements to it by anyone
Disclamier - This is a beta app. If it breaks your mac, sets your house on fire, kills your dog, or anything I am not liable. Use at your own risk.
Of course I'm not sure. If I could predict the future I'd be a rich man. I just wanted to mess with Tomer. Didn't know he would go tell on his dad to come defend him.
Nice! Quick question, looks like the readme mentions /update/OSX/ and two folders. Would I be correct in saying you should create one folder named update and another named OSX (with that case) within the PlexConnect folder? If so, then perhaps you may wish to edit the read me to something like:
In your PlexConnect directory make two new folders:
update
and
OSX
(The OSX folder MUST be named exactly that, it IS case sensitive)
Is there a way to make this app come via only one .app like Plexify? With all the features Plexify have? Cause Plexify will probably being stopped from development :(
This app is only one app after your install all the prerequisites per the readme.txt. Plexify is built using Xcode from what I can tell. OpenConnect is built using some altered plexconnect scripts with mine and @markuswarrens script tricks and Automator applescript. Plexify has some features that benifit a lot of users and can be customized to do just about anything you can imagine. OpenConnect is a different app in itself and is intended to work in any folder the user desires and has built in updating that works off any folder the user chooses as well. I may eventually move this project over to Xcode but it was just intended as a updater at first that I decided to play with and turn into a installation/updating app. I developed this by myself in less then 6hours, I’m sure if I look into Xcode I could make this into a nice little app as well
Update:
I just pushed a new update to the app to simplify some settings you can download it on the OP. I also updated the readme.txt to explain OpenConnect functionality in further detail. Enjoy
@tomer1749 READ the readme.txt It is EXTREMELY simple to install this apps prerequisites, if you cannot follow simple instructions then don’t use this app.
@Unsoluble that is exactly correct for the directory structure.
@Markuswarren I have updated the readme.txt for the directory structure, hopefully the new readme.txt will be less confusing
If you can make it into standalone .app like Plexify it'll be great. Cause Plexify will not be developed any more :(
If that is the case and @cyberon does not develop Plexify anymore I would be shocked if someone wouldn't develop Plexify further. Oh right his "OpenSource app" has a license so nobody even mess with the code but him. Sorry but that does nothing for the community and does not qualify as a OpenSource app so ya I'm going to avoid it like like plague for now. Plus WebConnect serves all devices alike anywhere and requires no authentication which I find to be a better user experience in my opinion.
I just pushed a few new options into OpenConnect (Update instructions in the OP):
@tomer1749 learn Xcode and develop your own app, use plexify, use openconnect, use terminal and use the plexconnect scripts or don't run plexconnect your choice.
