Somehow I told Plex to create optimized versions of every movie and every newly added movie. I cannot figure out how to turn that off. Any ideas?
From Plex Web, go to Settings \ Server \ Manage \ Optimized Versions
You should see all the rules you set up there.
Unfortunately all I see at that point is a partial list of movies that have been optimized. I do not see any rules or other settings.
Ah sorry. You can’t actually see the rules.
At this point, you can’t edit the rule to stop this from happening to new things you add. If you delete the job, it will delete all the ones it already created too.
If the optimized versions are saved next to the original and not in their old folder, the only work around I can think of is to:
- delete the library
- remove the rule
- create a new library pointing to the same folder as before
This will recreate your library and all previous optimized versions will still be there but as a another regular version.
