After moving an optimized library from a different server... prevent re-optimizing existing versions

Hey guys, I seen this quite a few times in this forum and want to see if there is a better way to handle it or how to file a change request.

I had a library “movies” I enabled optimization on the entire library. So, every time I added a movie - it was optimized automatically.

Now, I moved to a new server bringing my files over from the old server, I got the movies library with a sub folder “Plex versions” and a sub folder “Original version” and “Optimized for Mobile” that has the 2 pre-optimized versions.

plugging it in, plex has no trouble after taking its time to match the movies and show up each movie with 3 versions.

Problem is, I want to re-enable the entire library auto-optimization rule. But when I do, plex re-optimize each movie by deleting the existing optimized version and re-creating it.

There is a ton of content here, and I have a few libraries like that.

Is there a way for Plex to see the file was already optimized and skip it?
It is just a huge waste of time to make the new versions again.

No. PMS cannot identify optimized versions made on another setup. The info on if the file was optimized or not is stored in Plex’s internal database. Unless you copy this over to the new setup as well, PMS won’t know.
