Option to limit a playlist to unplayed only

Background:
For some series the episodes bridge over multiple series. ex.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Universe.
News-ish shows: The Daily Show, The Nightly Show, Colbert, Last Week Tonight, Vice
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Star Wars Universe

I will use Stargate as an example.
To watch all three series in an order a playlist would be ideal, however when you add 300+ episodes in a playlist, it becomes cumbersome to scroll to the next Unplayed episode.

Request:
Using the AppleTV UI as an example

In the playlist view, to the right of the Play and Shuffle buttons, I would like to have a toggle button to choose whether I want the playlist to display and ‘Play All’ episodes or ‘Unplayed Only’.

This is my ideal implementation.
Any method to update a playlist to only play ‘Unplayed’ items is desired.

This is possible, if you do it right while creating the playlist.

see Watch crossover episodes of several series in-order

Jumping to an old topic. I still think this is a valid request to have, there are certain series that have a watch order that doesn’t necessarily match air dates. Playing unplayed only is useful to have.

For playlist creation I use Trakt.tv integration, which imports the playlists from Trakt to Plex. This leaves me with long playlists which are rather painful to navigate. Having an option to start with the next unwatched would be absolutely awesome.

You could use the Episode Plays = 0 filter in your smart playlist.

That is great for playlists that can be a “Smart Playlist”.

I am currently working through an Marvel Cinematic Universe playlist which has a mix of both movies and TV Shows which limits it to a dumb playlist in which I have to scroll down through all the watched items to get to the next one.

I’m on item 98 of over 300

Having the “unwatched” or “unplayed” toggle in every playlist would be quite valuable.

I’m not sure if smart playlists work with music files, but I have a plan to re-listen to every CD (already ripped) I have again this spring/summer, and it would be helpful with that as well.
