Option to select "Hardware transcoding device" missing in settings for NAS

Server Version#: 1.30.0
Player Version#: 4.87.2

In the settings for my “DESKTOP-NHKFVUQ” I can select a hardware transcoding device - either “auto” or my 2080 TI. However, the option appears to be missing completely from setting when I switch to my NAS. I’ve got a Quadro T1000 8gb in QTS mode, drivers installed and everything green-lit on the NAS (so it appears) but there’s no option to select a transcoding device.

Server version 1.30.0 ?

If that’s from the Qnap app store then you want to get rid of that and install a more up to date version by downloading direct from Plex and installing manually instead.

Ah! So it was just that QNAP’s latest PLEX update is 11 iterations past-due. I kinda figured that might be it when I was browsing the forums for a solution and noticed others were well past 1.3 - and now I recall having to manually install an updated version the first time I set up my old NAS.

Thank you! I can now find and select the T1000!

QNAP’s App Center does now stay in tight sync with us.

You’re better off to pick what you want from the downloads page and Manual Install that QPKG file on top of whatever you have.

(Uninstalling erases your existing server info – NOT cool)

Not sure what you mean by them staying in tight sync ? :-

https://www.qnap.com/en-uk/app-center/?os=quts_hero&version=h5.2.1~h5.2.3&model=ts-473a&type=Entertainment

That’s still showing 1.30 for QuTS (and QTS is just the same…)

Or should it have read ‘not stay in tight sync’ ?

Perhaps better to say : “App Center offerings do not track Plex.tv downloads page”

We submit new versions to both QNAP and Synology as they become Public release.

It’s unfortunate App Center and Package Center don’t track

We do our best to keep them in sync with (same version) but it’s not an easy task
