Optional donation link in movie collection?

Hi, a couple of the users with whom I’ve shared my Plex library asked if they can donate to me to help support server costs like new hard drives or electricity costs. I wouldn’t dream of charging users for access of course, I would only consider having something that’s clearly optional. I know I could have something like a Tautulli newsletter but I don’t think email spam is nice. I was wondering if it would be within Plex ToS to put a centralised optional donation link within my Plex?

I was thinking of creating an empty movie collection and just putting a kofi link in the collection’s bio. I’d really appreciate knowing if this okay or not, as I’d hate for my lifetime pass to be revoked if it’s against ToS. I tried reading it the ToS but couldn’t find anything clear about it this.

Many thanks in advance!

How to differentiate between “optionally asking for a donation” and “asking for a donation or get kicked off” (=making it a paid offer)? I don’t think, Plex will get into that (nor should they… just my 2ct)

Wouldn’t it create the perfect conditions for Plex to be sued by IP holders into oblivion?!

Those users took the initiative to contact you. Was it too difficult to just reply directly back to them with your Ko-fi/Paypal or whatever, and just leave Plex out of it?

Wanting to put a link into your server interface so everyone sees it is literally soliciting for money.

Alternative response: There’s nothing stopping you from putting a URL into a collection description.

Thanks for the replies, very good points ! I see how this is indistinguishable from charging a personal fee for the service effectively. I won’t be risking this then, and makes sense why, thanks for explaining it.

Cheers.
