OTA Recordings Not Playing

I have suddenly run into an issue with the shows I am recording using my HD Homerun Connect device. There are a few shows that I am recording and have noticed that the last few weeks I have not been able to play any of the files. Plex gives me a message saying: “Couldn’t create the playback session for this item. Could not direct play because: App cannot direct play this item. No direct play video profile exists for protocol http with container mpegts, and video codec mpeg2 video. Could not transcode because: Not enough bandwidth for any playback of this item. Cannot reduce quality down to target bandwidth of 83kbps.”

I have not had any problems in the last year with the recordings I have made, I run my server on a Synology 1515+ and I know that it is not a powerful server but it is only me that uses it and I always playback any video at a rate that the NAS can handle. Music always works great, it is only the OTA recordings (only played on my LAN, never accessed when I am away from home). Any suggestions?

I have done as you asked. I went in and got rid of all of the old logs just so you didn’t have to search too much. I have realized that the issue is with happening with my iPhone/iPad playback. When I log into my server and play the same file it will play but when I attempt to play the file from the Plex App on my iphone (7plus) or iPad, I get the error.

I don’t know if the logs will show an error that happens when attempting to play something from an IOS App but here is the information you requested.

Just a reminder, there are shows I have recorded over the air from the same season and they play just fine through the IOS Apps on my iPhone or iPad, it is only the recordings that have been made as of late. If that is helpful in any way. Point being, my iPad could play a show I recorderd a few months ago but not a show I recorded last week. Thanks for taking a look Trumpy.

It will just not let me copy it or save it to a text file that is readable, it won’t let me upload as a PFD so I have to save it as a jpg., the best could do is this:

I see. I will check why that happened with the temp folder, that is strange but seems fixable.
As far as bandwidth, I’ll have to go through all the settings I could think of and see why it is suddenly having issues. Maybe it is trying to play at too high a quality (I usually set it at 1.5mb or lower so there is no buffering, it looks fine to me on the iPad, that is all I care about. I don’t need to watch a silly show in crazy high def anyway. I’ll check it out.

Trumpy,
Update: I ended up getting rid of my IOS Plex apps, redownloaded them and now things seem ok.
The files that were giving me trouble played fine in Plex Web, Roku Plex app and Synology DS Video so I knew that my Apples were bad…so to speak.

Thanks for taking a look at my logs, I also deleted that “Dolce Vida” folder that was causing a conflict (only had some lame music that I never accessed myself anyway so it’s gone forever).

I seem to be ok so this thread could be closed. Thanks for being so helpful, Plex support is the best community group ever.
