I’ve been having more and more audio problems with the roku plex player, and so i’m trying to use the web player in chrome instead, and so far i’ve had no playback problems, except that the menu overlays constantly keep popping up every half minute or so for just a second. i see that over the years this is a very common complaint and it seems like solutions are never actually reached. i’m hoping that’s not the case, but since this seems to be an ongoing issue, is there maybe some way to disable the menu altogether?

These occurrences are pretty rare. IMO they can regularly traced back to misbehaving web browser add-ins.
Or some misbehaving input device and/or its driver software.
its the menu you get when you pause with translucent bars along the top and bottom of the screen.
i guess i’ll start pulling extensions out to see if that takes care of it, and try ms edge as well…
These overlays appear when you move your mouse over the player window.
Some mice produce “jitter” movements, even when you are not actively using them.
For instance, do the overlays appear regularly after a particularly loud noise from your subwoofer?
i am embarrassed to admit, it was all my fault!!! it turns out, i forgot i had installed a little program called caffeine on the machine years ago, and it was diligently running in the background, sending out ‘stay alive’ messages every 45 seconds, and while it didn’t affect any other video player (including the plex app), it did affect the website! fixed now
now to try to figure out why on my roku with plex, the audio stuttered in a terrible way when playing ac3 5.1 and becomes so ubiquitous that it actually makes menu sounds when i pause stutter as well! thanks for the help
