Okay, well Im sure i am asking/posting this in the wrong place but I have spent over 10 minutes digging through trying to find where I should post this so i give up! Here I am! …All of a sudden now every single time I try watching my plex on my computere here at work (which I have done for over a year now) for some reason the overlay pops up literally every 3-5 seconds…it pops up goes away and 3 seconds later pops up again! As you can imagine this is extremely annoying and makes me want nothing at all to do with my plex anymore! I am using Chrome on Windows! this has been happening for a couple weeks now! So restarting etc… is out of the question and does nothing to fix the issue! Also I have put my cursor anywhere and everywhere on the screen, bottom right bottom left top left etc… and nothing works! I have even completely disconnected the mouse to make sure there is no chance at all that it is creating feedback! I have no idea how to fix this but it is extremely annoying and driving me to the point where Im about done paying for my plex pass! ANy suggestions/fixes would be greatly appreciated!
any ideas?
I am not able to reproduce this issue with Chrome on Windows.
What version of the web app are you using?
What version of chrome are you using?
If you put your mouse over the video it the controls and cursor should disappear after a few seconds.

…As far as “what version of webb app im using?” I have no idea, i just to go plex.tv and click launch like I always have! …As far as google chrome, Version 62.0.3202.89 (Official Build) (64-bit)…latest version! And yes, as i stated in my original post I have tried leaving the cursor in every spot possible on the screen and the controls overlay etc does go away for a second or 2 then pops right back up…then goes away and comes back in a few seconds again, the entire time Im trying to watch anything! My computer here at work is running Windows 7, my PC at home is Windows 10 I will try that later tonight when I get home and see if I have the same issue at home…which at home I NEVER use my pc for watching plex, that is always on my smart tv apps or roku’s i have, and none of them have this issue! THANK GOD because there is no way i would continue to use plex if it did this on all my tvs!
Okay…so Last night I tried at home on my Windows 10 machine…the overlay DOES NOT keep popping up like it does here at work! I am only experiencing the problem here at work on Windows 7, which we have to run 7 due to complications with the outdated software for our LED street sign so upgrading is not an option! I have tried using plex up here on Chrome, Internet Explore, & FireFox and they all 3 do the same thing! …Is there anyway I can fix this on my end…I honestly dont even know where to start to try fixing this! The weird thing to me is I have watched my plex on this same computer/setup for over a year and only starting experiencing this a few weeks ago at longest!
Is it possible your mouse is detecting movement somehow? Turn off your mouse (if it is wireless) or unplug it if you can while watching and see what happens.
The behaviour sounds a lot like Caffeine (http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/caffeine/) which simulates a keypress every 59 seconds by default. If the browser window displaying Plex is not the focused window do you see the same behaviour?

Thank you for the response and suggestion! I will look into it today and check out this out!
Well since I guess there is no fix for this and enjoying my plex here at work is impossible with a extremely annoying overlay up nonstop there is no reason to pay for plex anymore! It was great while it lasted! Absolutely no reason to keep this service since using it is only annoying as hell. Seems like every few months its something else, always a problem! There are many free alternatives, and since its close to impossible to get any customer support on plex I’m out of options!
We’ve been unable to reproduce this issue on our Windows systems, you’ve been unable to reproduce it on your home system and only see it on your work system. To me it seems like software on your work computer (or an extension in Chrome) is causing either mouse movement or keyboard presses, which causes the overlay to show.
I don’t have any other suggestions on what to check for, but if you have more information to help us reproduce, please let us know.
I also have this problem and can’t for the life of me find a fix. Help. Please. Somebody?
