Own profile for Shield TV rather than generic Android

Hi,

Would request the shield gets its own profile. With the default android profile, things are transcoding that the shield can handle.

So if I edit the android.xml, I get the shield to play more things natively. But its breaks my FireTV’s.

Could we split out the Shield, as it has better codec support than most android clients. Failing that, can the check for model work again for the android.xml - so I can make it just match the shield, rather than all android devices.

Odd, nothing transcodes to my shield. I play 4k HDR content to it just fine. But I did tell plex to allow a higher H.264 profile than the default, maybe that is why?

I have two shields and both direct play almost everything apart from old avi files.

It’s audio. Truehd and eac3 so far specifically. But if I force them, it works. But then breaks the firetvs.

I just want the ability to set my profile however I like, considering the force direct play option was removed. Some 4k files with hdr don’t play properly when direct streaming with transcoded audio. If I direct play (by editing android xml) or using another player - they work fine.

Then yes, seeing as we can run a limited server on the shield, it would appear to make sense to have a dedicated profile.
