I am currently trying to get rid of my TV remote and fully switch to my AppleTv, but this would also require to move the live tv to Plex. I already managed to setup the DVR with my DVB-C stick, but for watching TV I have to do several steps:
click home
click home again to go to the application overview
open Plex
the are multiple users so I don’t want to do a default login → select user
navigate to DVR
With a separate application for TVs we could safe the last two steps as everybody is allowed to use the DVR on the TV
In general I like how you manage the DVR functionality on the TV, so maybe “just” extract the functionality and share with the full and reduced application
Yes you are technically right.
For the use-case I am describing I just expected that the living room tv is a shared resource with access for everyone. If I use the tv functionality directly or via Plex would not make any difference. But I could still create a “technical user” which is logged into Plex on the TV while other members have no access
I currently moved to TvHeadend with TvhClient, but the client doesn‘t allow pausing.
So this new plex client would be just like the TvhClient just with a plex backend and pausing functionality
