Only one way to find out, true?
Are you and I all good? There seems to have been a misunderstanding about our earlier exchange

@ChuckPA
All is good broā¦
Thanks man.
In the future, might I ask you to consider your comments prior to making them just as you have so challenged me?

Then they came up to us and said āfor X price we will give you Y and if you have an issue we offer support in the form of a forumā.
Okay. I have to agree here maybe. ONLY, and ONLY because PLEX states this in the features you will receive.
https://www.plex.tv/features/plex-pass/
Granted, PLEX doesnāt specifically state actual support, only access to. But still, itās kind of a shi#$y concept to have. You get the same level of support without the benefit of all contributing members.
And Managed Users and Plex Home section is a joke. Of course you will have exclusive access to that when becoming a PlexPass member, DUH!. You only have that feature when you are a paid member.
Why PLEX wants to hide itās features from their members is beyond me. Let everyone have access to the forums so they can see what they may be missing. Heck, make it READ ONLY for those members.
Let people see what PLEX is capable of by letting all members read what other members post.
I for one stopped using the PlexPass only section because I find it a handicap. For me and other users that donāt have access to the PP sections.
It seems the administrators/moderators treat this forum like some warez/hack site where if you pay you can get a special section where you can download 0day downloads or exclusive stuff to downloadā¦
My 2cents
Need ticket support system with no public access in additional thing to this forum, because people who answer answer only to light questions and if need deep develope for fix a problem they go out and donāt return!
I really appreciate the way a Plex employee let us all know why they made the decision as they did (although I can not seem to find it now). Communication is key; Without that relationships implode and everyone blames everything else and winds up, at the very least, hurt and confused. Humans are social animals and square pegs do not fit into round holes. Play to your audience and compile to the architecture of your target machine. OK, I am done with the bad metaphors now.

As to the point of support, Plexās view of what constitutes support differs from what appears to be the consensus here. Plex does offer support in the forum of Community based forum support.
For this product (which focuses on a more tech-centric crowd than most) I like the idea of a partially community-supported forum (which is what it seems to me you guys were going for). However I also think it is time to admit this experiment has failed. Questions asked by paying customers that go one+ month without being answered plus the pace at which people are chiming in here? If the community is not filling the hole your poll told you not to spend the capital on perhaps you should at least consider switching up the formula now that you have the data.
My two cents, any way.
@srcrist
Please do not be rude. You make some good points but it is harder to hear them in this manner. The fact of it is we are trying to help someone give us something we want here and make a good case for them to do so.
@NewPlaza
There are a few things I would change here. Of course I was not in on those meetings but some of these decisions scream built-by-committee to me (bad thing). I think there were a lot of missed business opportunities to bring in a lot more money but at the end of the day I am just trying to break even here. Besides, watching the money other people are leaving on the table is what is making my business work as well as it is.

This requires a decent investment if only time. Not sure this is worth it at this stage. Perhaps if rolled out in phases with a clear automated migration plan⦠requires some serious thought.
Without anyone here holding my āmost prizedā body parts to the fire, may I share something? Please donāt pursue or press me on it because it will force me to step back. Should I step back, there is a sharp knife waiting there for me
This forum, which has been around since the early days, needs help ⦠DUH!
a) the growth
b) how incredibly difficult it is for us to use and manage
c) the several hundred threads, maybe itās 1000+ now, which are still open and dangling.
Do you hear me? A simple āYes/Noā will be more than sufficient.

I sincerely hope you do not get cut.
I hope not. that knife is rather precariously positioned
āIt will force you to sleep backā
Small number of support people here, we only chat with friends about plex :neutral:

This is not a terrible point. I think most people here are more hesitant to talk about using this product than other products; It is probably right up there with some hygiene products. Is a publicly-viewable forum the best venue for this? Even if some sections are pay-only that is not a high barrier for a determined āattackerā.
Re āattackersā.
If someone starts āattackingā, Community Guidelines are such that they can be removed from the forum.
Being removed from the forum does not prevent use of oneās Plex Pass features.
It has been over two weeks now. I was wondering if there has been any internal discussion on this topic?
There has been much more than internal discussion. There has been considerable movement.
We were briefed on a pending announcement but until I read the final prose, I wonāt know the details of what is actually coming.
A little over a month now. Any word?
Thereās a lot coming that Iām not allowed to discuss. The only word Iām allowed to use in any context: āThereās a lot coming imminentlyā (like next 30-days timeframe-ish)
I canāt say more than that. I hope you understand?

Thatās cool, it will certainly assist forum moods

Of course. I am sure we all do.
I am not so concerned with how long this is taking as I am with the fact that there is little communication. You can not give details, sure, but there could be an update that āsomething is happening, sit tightā or āWhen Its Done ā¢ā or āyou guys are really, really annoying right now except we have to be nice for the sake of our business so shut up for five minutes while we work on it because there is something comingā.
Any way, I am very glad to hear this. Funny thing, in the last ~two months I have not had a single issue.
Thank you for the update!
Nick,
I understand from your viewpoint. I also know what I am and (most) other team members are working on. Plex has never been a company which says āComing, on January 1, 2025ā style. Management just does not give roadmaps or dates. Iām pushing the limit as far as I can by giving hints.
I can tell you, Iām doing something today which will make a bunch of people happier provided I donāt muck it up at the last second (right? hahaha) Those who follow my work can likely deduce but I canāt confirm. (that policy/roadmap thing again)
The new forum is much more open than the old. This is a big step in the right direction.
Apparently the new forum software marks old edited posts as new posts once edited? Seems like only in the context of notifications and most recent, not in post date. Did not mean to beat a dead horse as I did not expect this behavior.
By the way, the new forums are really nice.
