In most Apple TV apps, any video will pause automatically when you turn off the TV screen, either manually or by a sleep timer. One app that doesn’t do that is Plex. Instead the app keeps playing and playing till there’s noting more to play. Would it be possible to add that functionality?
I solved this problem with my mother’s Roku stick (she would set the sleep timer for the TV, but the Roku device kept playing) by buying one of these Device Managed Power Strip.
Plug the TV into the “control” plug and the Apple TV into the “switched” plug and when the TV stops pulling power the Apple TV shuts off also.
Yeah, that’s an definitely an option. Not sure the apple tv likes being practically yanked out of the wall all the time though.
