AppleTV - Playlist prevents AppleTV from entering Sleep when TV sleep timer turns off TV

When playing a custom playlist on an AppleTV, Plex will continue to play after the TV shuts off with a sleep timer. This causes the AppleTV to stay on constantly and the playlist will continue until the custom filter results in no more media meeting the filter requirements.
I put on a playlist filter by show they haven’t been played in the last week since the shuffle kept playing the same episodes over and over. Until recently when the TV sleep timer turns off the TV the AppleTV will go to sleep stopping all playback. Now the playlist keeps playing even though the TV is off. So my PC is constantly running and my AppleTV is on all night and I had to change my custom filter to episodes not played in the last 1 day. I have 14 seasons of the show I usually fall asleep to so there are a lot of episodes to choose from. But this new issue I’m afraid may burn out my PC it the AppleTV prematurely.

Is it possible that the settings on either your Apple TV or the TV itself have changed? It sounds like the Apple TV was responding to a HDMI-CEC command from your TV (infuriatingly, each manufacturer has different branding for this… BRAVIA Sync, Anynet+, VIERA Link, etc).

It’s not possible for individual apps to override these commands on tvOS, so I don’t think it’s anything that we’re doing… check the configuration in Settings > Remotes and Devices > Home Cinema Control on your Apple TV, and whatever the equivalent is in the settings on the TV side.
