So i decided to use my old intel nuc8i3 to try and see what unraid could do vs my windows 10 server.
I’m completely shocked… Is there something i missed in my installation of Windows, or is the tonemapping just so terribly supported in Windows?
The NUC8i3 with a i3-8109u processor (2 cores with HT) passmark and 16gb (2400mhz) memory
vs
A new I5-11600 processor (6 cores with HT) passmark with 16gb (3200mhz) memory
settings transcoder:
quality on auto, background transcode on very fast.
HDR-tonemapping enabled, use hardware transcoding enabled.
playing:
reminiscence 4K HEVC with HDR (16gb in size) video profile Main 10, chroma 4:2:0.
audio: EAC3 with 768 bitrate (5.1)
and not only the cpu is going haywire.. the bandwith is also all over the place of the windows server vs the unraid installation…
this really makes me think about transfering to unraid..
