I’ve been running PMS on my Drobo 5N2 for streaming my movie library locally to the smart tvs in my house. I haven’t had any issues with performance as there is no need to transcode files and all the formats are supported by my TVs.
However, I’ve been wanting to get into music library streaming/sharing over the network and have been really intrigued by all the features of Plexamp. My only issue is that my server is not powerful enough for a lot of cpu intensive processing. Even for videos, I have disabled local processing of credit markers and rely on online data only. And it seems like plexamp’s sonic analysis is not supported on ARM processors at all.
Is there any way for me to utilize my powerful gaming desktop for this processing?
- Is there an automated way of doing this where I setup a second server on my desktop but don’t use it for streaming. It’ll only be used for adding new media and performing all the processing on it. The media libraries will be the same folders on the NAS. Any way to sync the databases and the metadata of the two servers?
- Is there a manual way of doing this? Again, I’ll just use the server on my desktop for adding new media and doing the processing. Then I’ll copy the db and/or metadata, analysis data to the NAS server.
