Hey, Chuck you sorted me out on my last Plex build when this came up and I know it has to be a permissions issue as I can not get my PlexServer—Libraries to scan see my movies. Currently, I do not have remote access to my old server as my internet is down at my home to look and compare and see what I am missing.

Can you PLEASE take a quick look at tell me what I am missing on the new server? I followed your Linux Tips post but I know I missed something. LOL but i am going cross eyed trying to figure it out.

Changed the names of the movies to make it easier to look at btw. And this is a just a small SSD HD I am using for testing till I get the ones out of the old server moved over. And yes I know these are mounted in my home directory but this is strictly for testing while I get this setup correctly. If you need anything else let me know. I will copy paste it. AGAIN THANKS SO MUCH MAN.

If I’m reading this right, you want your PMS processes to read from /home/cnutter/Data4? The files may be owned by plex:plex, but can the plex account get through /home, /home/cnutter and /home/cnutter/Data4? The plex account will need at least ‘r-x’ permissions through every level, whether user, group, or other/world. Is the cnutter account in the plex group?

Personally, as a long time *ix admin, I won’t mount anything under a homedir as a pretty hard general rule, not even temporary single use issues. IMO, you want to move the Data4 directory out of /home complete, and into it’s own directory. The plex:plex account should own the directory (in the case above, it’s owned by cnutter:cnutter,) and it’s contents. Secondarily, you also want to avoid any directory that may be used by a programmatic mounter, such as /mnt, etc.

the problem is my brain has 53 million things including distractions at the office today with jackasses that work for me wanting to know when pay day is (friday) even though they all have worked for me for the last few years and know already add in they are doing flooring today at the office and I can’t remote into work because Windstream (my home ISP) sucks ass and my internet has been down for a total of 23 days this month cause they are worthless BUT the only game in town so I am stuck. Anyway, when in doubt ask for help. LOL Thanks again for this. I know being a forum mod can be a pain thankless job or hobby if you are not getting paid.

I do this for kinda half * half.
I work part time for Pex (why I’m not an Employee).
Helping folks keeps me out of trouble (theoretically) LOL

i got married and had kids. That kinda keeps me out of trouble well its a whole new kinda of trouble. So, other than work being a huge pain in the ass my life is good. I just need that damn lotto just wont hit. LOL Take it easy again thanks.
