How do I get plex to stop downloading metadata for my music? It’s driving me nuts! I have my own method of assigning metadata to my files, and do not want Plex to override that. Worse yet, if I have metadata for a particular album (let’s say, album art, for example) and Plex “can’t find” this metadata, it will leave that album cover blank, even if my agent’s priority is “Local Media Assets.” Granted, this setting is set under Settings > Server > Agents. But, when I go to set up my Music folder, I only have the option of Last.fm or Personal Media Artists. Please tell me there is a way to actually stop Plex from downloading metadata?
Same (problem) here.
I also want Plex to use the metadata that is readily available in the mp3 tags, but still Plex is ‘downloading metadata’.
I also have ‘edit library’ > ‘advanced settings’ I have activated ‘Use embedded tags’ and selected ‘Personal Media Artists’ instead of ‘Last fm’.
This metadata mechanism is either not working well or not transparent to the end user.
I have discovered that if you use the proper settings:
Settings > Agents > Albums > Local Media Assets (Albums) Priority
&
Music > Edit > Advanced > Use Embedded Tags
Plex will still display “downloading metadata”, however it’s not really changing anything (in regards to the metadata I want to manage, personally, which is album art and track titles), so it’s a bit misleading. Even though it’s fetching information, it’s not really doing anything with it.
